She took a deep breath, wrapped her arms around lan’s neck, and planted a kiss on him
But in their few encounters, she was always passive and had no idea how to make the first move.
lan’s eyes narrowed, and after he realized what was happening, he held her tightly against him.
From being passive to taking the lead.
It wasn’t until ten minutes later that Maja was let go, but she hadn’t forgotten her goal.
“Mr. Raymond, will you agree?”
lan’s remaining anger completely disappeared. He looked at her face and suddenly said, “I have a thing about cleanliness.”
“I know.”
“Other than me and your husband, are there any other men?”
“No.”
That answer satisfied lan. He opened a door nearby, his tone much softer.
“You can take a week off.”
“Thank you, Mr. Raymond.”
lan didn’t pay her any attention and walked straight into the elevator.
Maja didn’t follow.
As the elevator doors closed, lan felt like lighting a cigarette.
The moment she kissed him, he felt his heart stop, then quickly speed up.
It was a strange sensation, one he had never experienced before.
When he returned to the box, Tyler raised his smug glass.
“lan, you sure move fast, don’t you?”
That was a sore point for any man.
lan couldn’t be bothered with him, “Buzz off.”
Tyler glanced at lan, then handed him a tissue.
lan looked at him.
Tyler raised an eyebrow, “Unless you don’t mind lipstick on your mouth, you might want to wipe it off.”
lan took the tissue and wiped the corner of his mouth. Sure enough, there was a smudge of red on the white tissue.
He then remembered her lipstick tonight was darker than before.
Fitch looked at them, puzzled.
“Are you really together with the designer?”
“Is there something you want?” lan’s tone gave nothing away as he crumpled the tissue in his hand.
Fitch held a glass of wine and sneered, “She’s quite shrewd, even managed to hook you.”
lan didn’t respond but leaned back in his seat as Fitch continued.
“I don’t know how many men she’s been with, but you’re not picky.”
Tyler quickly covered Fitch’s mouth. He could sense that lan hadn’t tired of Penny yet.
Once a man’s protective instincts kick in, a fight might break out between the two.
Fitch was the type to speak his mind, often offending people with his words.
As expected, lan’s gaze turned cold. He looked at Fitch, “What do you mean by that?”
Tyler hurriedly raised his glass.
“Hey, we’re all friends here. Let’s not say things like that. Penny is pretty good. Her looks are quite exceptional in our circle.”
Fitch’s gaze remained on lan, ignoring Tyler.
“I admit her looks are unique, but as far as I know, she’s married. No matter how beautiful, it’s not a reason for my friend to interfere in someone else’s marriage.”
“Hey, don’t say it like that”
Tyler quickly tried to smooth things over.
Fitch and Tyler thought lan would get angry. They knew his temper after all these years.
But lan just picked up a glass from the coffee table.
“If you want to accuse me of being a homewrecker, that’s fine. But don’t say that about her. She’s not someone who’s messing around outside.”
Tyler pursed his lips.
Fitch was left speechless, unsure of what to say.
Fitch was known for his hot temper and cunning ways. This was the first time lan had rendered him speechless, his veins popping on his forehead. Tyler gave a thumbs up.
Neither of them mentioned lan’s wife at home because she was insignificant.
A sacrifice in a business deal, she would be abandoned sooner or later.
In the world of the wealthy, women like her were no different from tools, without their own thoughts or dignity.
Maja was still on the top floor. She realized she had no access card and the elevator wouldn’t work.
To ensure privacy on the top floor, the staircase was also secured.
lan must have forgotten when he left that the elevator needed an access card to operate.
Now Maja was stuck here.
She took out her phone and called lan.
Since he entered the BlueSky Bar, lan had his phone on silent and didn’t notice the incoming calls.
It was when they were about to leave at eleven that he checked his phone and saw three missed calls from Maja, plus a text “I don’t have an access card.”
She didn’t use any emoticons, but he felt sorry for her.
Lowering his eyelashes, he said goodbye to Tyler and went upstairs.
