Maja was about to get in her car in the underground garage when she saw the car window next to her slide down, revealing Knox’s face. 

He wasn’t hiding his intentions anymore, directly pulling out a credit card. 

“A million dollars for a hundred sexes. If you’re game, get in the car.” 

His face was so fat, it almost blocked the entire car window. 

Maja felt a wave of disgust at his words. 

But Knox just raised his eyebrows, looking smug as hell. 

“Before, Daniel mentioned you to me, saying that you were exceptionally beautiful. I had seen your photos back then, but I never expected you to look even more stunning in person. At that time, you were probably still a virgin, but now that might not be the case anymore. Virgins are the ones who can fetch a high price. I’m willing to offer you $10,000 each time; consider it a generous offer. Later, I’ll buy you a villa. The Pennyfeather family will be bankrupt in a month, so if you don’t agree, you might end up begging on the streets, my sweetheart.” 

The last few words were quite sleazy! 

Many wealthy middle–aged men have an intense self–confidence. They seem to believe that they only need to throw a credit card, and women will eagerly flock to them. In the business world, the status of women is far lower than that of men, and this is indeed a fact.

Maja took the card from him, then flung it back in his face. 

“You keep it, Mr. Knox. Even if ByteWise Technologies goes under, the Pennyfeather family won’t go bankrupt.” 

With that, she hopped in her car and gunned the engine. 

Knox’s face stung from the card slap. He was stunned. No woman had ever dared to treat him like that.

He smacked the dashboard, startling the driver, 

“Mr. Knox.” 

Knox sneered, “I’m going to show that woman what will happen when she pisses me off.” 

The driver didn’t say anything. People had turned Knox down before, but they were polite about it, scared of retaliation. 

But this Maja, she was bold enough to throw the card in Mr. Knox’s face. She was asking for trouble. 

“Drive!” 

“Uh, yes sir.” 

Knox stewed in his anger. Even at the club with a bunch of company bosses later that night, he was still pissed. 

When Daniel first showed off her picture, he had been intrigued. 

Daniel had mentioned her name in business world was Penny, and she was a brilliant artist. 

Knox pushed the woman crawling all over him away. 

All the women in the room looked good, but none of them had the same appeal as Maja. 

He grunted, got up and went out for a smoke. 

As he was passing through the lobby, he saw a man helping a slightly drunk man past, 

The drunk man wasn’t particularly noticeable. 

He was bragging to the other guys. 

“I got my promotion all thanks to Penny. Bet you didn’t know, she’s my wife. No one else knows.” 

Everyone just thought he was talking nonsense because he was drunk. 

Penny was someone even the company’s CEO had to tread lightly around, there’s no way she could be married to this nobody, Nathan. 

But his words caught Knox’s attention. 

A sinister glint flashed in Knox’s eyes. 

After Nathan finished in the restroom, he was escorted out by a few bodyguards, taken straight out of there, and then roughed up. 

He kept begging for mercy, but he had no idea who was behind it. 

Not until the sack was pulled off his head and he saw the fat middle–aged man sitting in front of him. 

“You say Penny is your wife?” 

Nathan flinched, too scared to answer. 

He had just been boasting under the influence of alcohol. He’d only wanted to show off a bit, he never thought it would land him in hot water. 

He couldn’t afford to cross this man, and he definitely couldn’t afford to cross Penny. 

Knox simply lit a cigar, a cold smile playing on his lips. 

“Call her. Tell her to come get you.” 

Nathan was usually a coward, but at that moment, he showed some backbone and didn’t make the call. 

The bodyguards stepped in and beat him again. 

When Maja returned to the Pennyfeather family’s villa, she was astonished to find Neil already there. She wondered if she had mistaken something. 

Before Neil, there was a pile of documents spread out, and he had a head full of white hair, indicating that he had just awakened. He hadn’t informed Maja and had managed to discharge himself from the hospital with great difficulty. The hospital had done everything possible to convince him to stay, but they hadn’t disclosed that he was suffering from advanced liver cancer. 

Neil appeared to have aged ten years; his eyesight had deteriorated rapidly over the past few days, and he now needed glasses to read the words clearly on the contracts. Seeing him like this, Maja felt a pang of heartache. 

As he read a few lines, he would cough a few times, clearly struggling. He was reviewing the contract between the company and ByteWise Technologies, trying to find any loopholes. However, he had read it ten times already, and the Pennyfeather family’s debts were an unalterable reality.
