Upon hearing that Neil had woken up, Cristina freaked out. Didn’t the doctor say it would take a week?
She rushed to the hospital, only to find Neil still unconscious, which was a bit of a relief.
The guard at the door was still there. She couldn’t do anything, so she immediately phoned Carter.
“The doc said Neil woke up today! What are we going to do? After Glenn’s accident, I’m all over the place.”
Carter was also surprised. He didn’t expect Neil’s body to be so messed up yet wake up so quickly,
But that’s okay. His plan was already in motion. Once the money hit the account in a couple of days, he could take the cash and live the high life abroad.
“Don’t sweat it. He just woke up. It’ll be a long time before he can talk.”
Cristina was always uneasy. “Once Neil can talk, we’re toast. Let’s sell my shares while he’s still unconscious, and let’s take the money and jet off abroad?”
That’s got to be better than losing everything at home.
Carter’s eyes lit up at the idea. Thanks to Cristina for dealing with the board of directors, the ByteWise Technologies project was successfully signed. He had reached an agreement with a leader at ByteWise Technologies. Once the contract was over, they would wire 10 million dollars directly into his account.
10 million dollars. He could live a life of luxury with this, finding a young woman, no need to stick with that old bat Cristina.
Even though Cristina had aged well, she was indeed getting on.
Cristina had given him several million over the years, plus he had a bunch of side chicks. His life was pretty sweet.
Now that Neil was about to wake up, he did not need to end up behind bars.
After hanging up, Carter’s eyes sparkled.
His bank account showed that he had received the 10 million dollars! He immediately booked a flight on his phone without telling anyone.
Those sweethearts were just for fun. Once he was abroad, wouldn’t it be better to find an exotic beauty?
Just as Carter’s funds came in, Carol called Maja.
“Maja, Carter’s behavior is really sketchy. The latest news shows he received 10 million dollars. No small company has this kind of cash flow. I don’t know who gave him this much money; he also booked a flight abroad. I think he might be planning to run away with the money.”
Maja had been happy because of Neil waking up, but hearing this, her face turned serious.
10 million dollars?
This definitely involved some deals.
Thinking about lan’s words about the Pennyfeather family going bankrupt and the project the Perinyfeather family recently signed, Carter must have sold out the Pennyfeather family.
“Carol, when is his flight?”
“It’s tonight at nine. And oh, I forgot to tell you the most crucial thing. He sold his house a week ago and got 1.3 million dollars cash.”
This was a clear sign he was leaving.
“Carol, have the bodyguard give him a good beating when he sets off for the airport. It would be best to injure one of his legs so that he can’t walk for a while.”
For now, she couldn’t directly intervene in the Pennyfeather family’s business and could only wait for Neil to wake up. But the project that Carter signed was absolutely a ticking time bomb for the Pennyfeather family!
Maja was helpless. All she could do now was to stop Carter from leaving.
“All right, don’t worry; I’ll make sure the job gets done.”
After hanging up, Maja rubbed her temples, took a tissue from the side, and wiped away the tears from Neil’s eyes.
Who knew what he was thinking? Usually so strong, he was now constantly shedding tears.
Neil’s breathing had steadied. He was apparently asleep.
Maja was exhausted. She originally wanted to go back and rest, but Neil’s tears seemed endless, and she felt an acute ache in her
heart.
Her grandparents would definitely come for money, and Daly’s family wasn’t any better. Neil was already one of the better ones in this
bunch.
He was one of the few relatives who at least still cared about her.
So she decided to rest a bit by the bedside.
With his passport, bank card, and mobile phone, Carter was about to get in the car when suddenly a sack was thrown over his head from behind!
“Who’s there!”
But the other party didn’t answer him and dragged him into an alley. Then the beatdown began.
Carter was instantly beaten to a pulp and was also very anxious.
He had to leave the country tonight. The money was already in the account, and Neil could wake up at any moment. If he pointed out that he and Cristina were having an affair, then it was all over. All the years of planning would be for nothing!
Who was trying to get him, and why now?
He was very anxious.
“Please, I beg you, just stop, and I’ll give you fifty grand!”
