The car slowly drove off. 

Jeff, sitting in the car, was the one who could most directly feel lan’s mood swings. 

The frosty atmosphere had gradually dissipated. 

He breathed a sigh of relief. There had been some bold women who tried to approach lan before, but they disappeared quickly. 

The woman from this morning was also brave, trying to approach him multiple times.

And Maja stood there, waiting for lan’s car to be out of sight before she bent down to look at Coco.

“I heard Holden sent you another gift?”

But none of them took the initiative to contact Maja, lan’s wife in name, to tell her about it. It was clear how marginal Maja’s position was in the Raymond family. 

At first, Selena couldn’t believe her son was having an affair, then she was delighted 

She didn’t like Carlene either. She felt the Shepard family wasn’t good enough for the Raymond family. 

But after lan married Maja, he left home for three years. lan rarely even called her. 

Selena had already lost one son. She didn’t want any more conflicts with this younger one, so she accepted Carlene. 

So she kept warning Maja not to have any other ideas.

When Maja saw Selena in the living room, she was glad she had already taken Coco back to the back room. 

Selena came over to show off, occasionally reminding Maja not to forget her place. So when she saw that Maja wasn’t doing anything, she left.

“lan could never like you. Even if you did manage to get close to him one day, he wouldn’t give you a second glance. The Pennyfeathers aren’t good enough to give me grandchildren.” 

Maja stood there without refuting a single word. 

Seeing her like this gave Selena no satisfaction, but a sense of suppression. 

After scolding her a few times, she left with a cold snort. 

As soon as she left, Maria came out from the side, sighing for a while. 

“Ms. Pennyfeather, should I tell my father? Selena’s constant behavior must be making you uncomfortable.” 

“Maria, there’s no need.” 

She didn’t actually want to stay in the Raymond family, so she didn’t feel uncomfortable. 

When she got back upstairs, Maja thought her day was over. But in the evening, Neil called. 

Her instinct was to not answer, but she had to because of her father’s illness. 

“Dad.” 

“Maja, one of your mother and I’s classmates came to our house. He said he had something to discuss with you, come over and talk to him. We might work with his company in the future.” 

Specifically looking for her? 

Her parents‘ classmate? 

If it was a work thing, there was no need to go to the Penny feather family. 

When Maja entered the living room, she saw Silver sitting across from Neil.

Maja saw a pile of gifts on the coffee table. The most conspicuous was a piece of ancient painting, estimated to be worth about 30 million. And it was the original painting Neil had been looking for. 

Neil looked like he and Silver had been chatting for a while. When he saw her come back, he signaled her to come over. 

“Maja, come say hi to Mr. Cames.”
