For a moment, Maja even wondered if she should just come clean with lan. That way, she wouldn’t have to keep hiding and lying to Ryan. 

But considering lan’s attitude toward the Pennyfeather family, plus the fact that she was currently designing his house, it was crucial to keep a good relationship with him to avoid any awkwardness. 

Besides, lan had been a great help to her during this time. 

If she stirred up trouble, Maja would just feel overwhelmed. 

She got up, feeling completely worn out, both mentally and physically. 

“Maria, I’m not feeling well tonight. I’ll skip dinner, no need to call me.” 

Maria seemed a bit uneasy, “Ms. Pennyfeather, I used the same excuse last time, and Mr. Raymond was a bit displeased.” 

Maja brushed it off, “It’s okay. My relationship with him is beyond repair anyway.” 

To be precise, it’s not her relationship with him, but his relationship with Mrs. Raymond. 

If Maja tried to please him as Mrs. Raymond, it would only annoy him. 

lan wanted Mrs. Raymond to keep her distance from his life. That night when she asked him for money, he transferred it without hesitation and reminded her to remember her place. 

If Maja had approached him as Mrs. Raymond from the start, lan would not have met with her at all. 

Maria didn’t know what to say, so she just sighed. 

lan entered the villa in the evening, casually hanging his suit on the coat rack. 

There was a smell of food in the house, he had just finished a meeting and was feeling a bit tired. 

Maria immediately stepped forward to greet him. 

“Mr. Raymond.” 

lan would sometimes came over recently, depending on his mood. 

After all, his father would occasionally pop in for a check, so he had to stay over from time to time to keep his father from discovering the truth.

Maria ordered the servants to serve the food, as lan sat down, he thought he heard a few dog barks.

“Where is she?”

“Ms. Pennyfeather said she’s not feeling well.” 

lan frowned. He thought that even if she was not feeling well, she would come down just to get a glimpse of him.

So her avoiding him twice using the same excuse didn’t match the image of the woman he knew. 

But about this wife in name, lan had no interest in digging deeper. 

Upstairs, Maja was working overtime on her computer. 

She had already obtained the bottom price from other material suppliers, but she had no clue about the cherry wood flooring, which needed to be booked three years in advance. 

She estimated that the flooring would need to be on site in six months, so she had to find a way to get back to Crystalbrook Valley as soon as possible. 

Due to the good sales of cherry wood flooring, the person in charge of Crystalbrook Valley was very cautious, they hardly accepted orders from anyone other than existing partners. So Maja could only persuade them by going to Crystalbrook Valley in person. 

But there’s no rush to leave tonight, after all, even if she left now, it would be too late, and there wouldn’t be much difference from 

going a few days later. 

She checked the material forms carefully again, making sure nothing was missed, then started looking at the renderings on the computer, thinking about any necessary modifications. 

lan had already helped her multiple times. She had to make the design for Greenfield Gardens perfect. 

But just as her hand touched the keyboard, she heard a dog barking outside. 

She quickly got up and went to the window, only to see her pet dog, Coco, playing in the garden. 

She remembered that Maria should have locked it up. How could it escape? 

If lan came back and found Coco, the consequences would be unthinkable.
