Her tone was gentle.
“Instead of worrying about that, you should focus on your health.”
Holden’s face immediately brightened up at her words, and he couldn’t help but smile.
He had assumed that lan was a clueless kid, but it turned out he was quite sensible. No wonder people said he was making efforts; it seemed he was making progress. Knowing they were getting along well, he felt at ease.
“Maja, if anyone messes with you, let lan handle it.”
Maja didn’t dare to elaborate on the topic, afraid of revealing any weakness. She smoothly switched the conversation to something else.
An hour later, she got up to make some soup.
“Maja, you can let others do these tasks. You don’t have to do it yourself!
“Grandpa Holden, I promised lan I would.”
Holden laughed even more, announcing that he was leaving.
Maja personally walked him to the door, watching his car drive away, she stood there, dazed.
Maria stood by her side, letting out a soft sigh.
Maja was grateful that Maria didn’t say anything in front of Holden, but she knew Maria was more worried about Holden Raymond’s health.
On his way home, Holden called lan, praising him generously.
At that time, lan was in a meeting, frowning.
It was like the last time when he was praised out of the blue. Last time it was after a big acquisition, but lately everything in the Raymond family was going according to the plan. Why was his grandpa suddenly so cheerful?
“Ian, I’m leaving now. I won’t disturb you guys, but remember not to neglect Maja’s feelings because of being too busy. Maja likes you, otherwise she wouldn’t trust you.”
After saying this, Holden started laughing. “You’re doing great.”
lan was puzzled What on earth did that woman say in front of grandpa?
But considering his grandpa’s health, he didn’t argue.
After hanging up, he felt somewhat irritated.
Meanwhile, Maja had made soup for lan and left the rest to Maria. She had to deal with the $8 million issue immediately. The only person who could help her now was Carol.
They had agreed to meet at a bar at six in the evening, and she went there.
Maja wasn’t used to borrowing things from others, so she hesitated.
Carol didn’t expect Maja to borrow money from her and couldn’t help but say:

Initially, Maja just wanted to end this marriage as soon as possible. When she woke up from sleep and heard them discussing the divorce agreement, she thought she could get divorced quickly, so she accepted his proposal without thinking it was inappropriate.
But now, the divorce process was delayed again and again, and Maja felt like she was stuck in a rut.
“Maja, it’s not that I don’t want to lend it to you. I think you’ve been oppressed during these three years in the Raymond family. Plus, you never asked lan, how do you know he wouldn’t lend you?” Carol was always straightforward, and she didn’t know Maja was guilty because of some past events between them.
She took Maja’s phone and texted lan directly.

Maja didn’t have time to stop her.
Unexpectedly, lan replied very quickly.
[Please tell me your bank account number.]
Carol sent Maja’s bank account number.
Within ten minutes, the money was transferred. The speed of it felt unreal.
Carol returned the phone to Maja, a puzzled look in her eyes, “Isn’t it easy to borrow the money? What are you hesitating for?“–
As soon as she finished speaking, lan sent another message.
[Other than that, don’t bother me anymore, and be clear about your own identity.]
Maja took her phone and noticed that Carol had used her personal number.
So, lan knew it was his nominal wife borrowing money.
He didn’t care where the money would be used. After all, wasn’t the relationship between the Pennyfeather family and the Raymond family all about money?
In his view, anything that can be solved with money is trivial.
Understanding his logic, Maja replied with ease.
