Chapter 111 

She walked downstairs, minding her own business, and saw Cristina sitting on the sofa, looking a bit off. 

Cristina always kept herself in tip–top shape, and she must’ve had something going for her to have caught Neil’s eye back in the day. No way she could’ve married a successful guy like Neil while lugging 

around a deadbeat like Glenn. 

Right now, Cristina’s eyes were sparkling and she was radiating a mature allure. 

Maja frowned for some reason. 

She wanted to ask Cristina why she wasn’t at the hospital today, but then she remembered that Neil was head over heels for Cristina. So even if Cristina just wanted to chill at home, he wouldn’t have any objections. 

So she didn’t ask, instead she just opened the door. Outside stood a man, causing her pupils to shrink and her stomach to churn. It was Glenn. 

Glenn was suited up, probably just got back from work. His gaze fell on Maja’s curvaceous figure, his eyes meaningful. 

But he suppressed this lust, just greeting her with a smile. 

“Good evening, you’re home tonight?” 

Maja never liked the way Glenn looked at her, so she only gave a “hmm” and tried to walk past him. 

Glenn caught a whiff of her scent, stirring a clear physical reaction. 

“I didn’t see you drive back, let me give you a ride.” 

“No need.” 

“We’re family.” 

Maja had already walked a few steps away and didn’t respond. 

Glenn stood still, staring at her retreating figure. When he turned and walked into the living room, he caught a whiff of the smell inside and immediately grimaced. 

“Mom, can you be more careful next time? You’re gonna get caught one day! 

Cristina’s face turned sour at her son’s sarcastic comment. 

“Glenn, how was supposed to know she was coming over tonight?” 

Glenn took off his coat and draped it over his arm. 

“Even if you want to do stuff behind Neil’s back, you shouldn’t do it at the villa Neil’s health isn’t great right now, and if you really make him sick, a part of the Pennyfeather family’s shares are still Maja’s. You haven’t fully got your hands on the shares yet, why rush it?” 

“Alright got it. I had him leave through the back door. Lucky the security guard gave me a heads up. 

As long as you understand.” 

Glenn was about to leave, only leaving a comment, “Get someone to take care of the smell in the living room.” 

Being caught red–handed by her son, Cristina felt embarrassed and immediately called the maid to clean up, including the study, which was thoroughly disinfected. 

Maja, holding her documents, walked for another half hour back to the hospital. She couldn’t possibly ask Cristina for taxi money, who knew what kind of mockery that would bring 

Just before she reached the hospital, she bumped into a nurse in a hurry to get off work, causing Maja to stumble backward. 

Luckily, she managed to steady herself with the umbrella in her hand, but the umbrella inevitably got a long rip from a tree branch. 

The nurse quickly apologized and left. 

It was just an umbrella, and Maja felt too awkward to ask for compensation. 

“What happened to you?” 

Right now, only Neil was in the room, he’d just finished reading the documents in his hand. 

Maja took a deep breath, “My car got a flat tire halfway, and I left my phone and bag in the car. Dad, can you give me some taxi money?” 

This was the first time Maja had ever asked Neil for money since she was an adult. 

Neil felt a strange sense of satisfaction and handed her a bank card. His gaze fell on the Rolls Royce umbrella in her hand and he frowned, “Who gave you this umbrella?” 

“A colleague.” 

“Does your colleague drive a Rolls Royce?” 

Maja was a bit confused. She didn’t understand how an umbrella could tell what kind of car someone drove until she looked down at the shining logo on the handle. 

Thinking that she had partly damaged this umbrella, she immediately felt a headache. But considering the Hermes dog chain incident last time, the damage to the Rolls Royce umbrella didn’t seem that shocking. 

It was just that compensating for it might make her feel bad. 

“You and your colleague…” 

Maja worried that he would start nagging again, so she truthfully replied, “It’s lan. I ran into him on the road, and he lent it to me.” 

Neil’s face immediately brightened, and he gladly handed the card to her. 

Maja used the card to withdraw some cash at a nearby supermarket, but she didn’t return to Rosewood Manor. Since lan was headed there earlier, she might run into him if she went back now. 

Once the traffic police had sorted out her car, they drove it to the hotel where she was staying in less than two hours. 

Maja looked up the price of the umbrella online and felt a pang in her heart when she saw the $100,000 price tag. 

Ian had just finished taking a shower. His wife hadn’t come back yet, but he didn’t mind. To him, she was just a stranger. 

He picked up his phone and saw a transfer of $100,000. His brows raised and he sent a question mark back. 

“Mr. Raymond, I’m sorry, I broke your umbrella.” 

Because her luck wasn’t great tonight, she even sent a pitiful emoji. Ian rarely chatted with people, besides occasionally chatting with friends in the circle, the rest was just phone calls with business partners. So when he saw the usually cold Maja send this emoji, he found it quite novel. 

At the same time, a–strange feeling emerged in his heart.
