Brayden seemed to have sobered up a bit.
He stood up and said, “Kerri, I’m seriously starting to wonder if that kid is some secret love child of yours. You’re even willing to trade my son for him.” Kerri was completely speechless.
What a paranoid man.
Brayden pressed on, “Who is that kid? What’s your relationship with him?”
Kerri pushed Brayden away, “Brayden, can you stop freaking out? That kid is four years old and our son is also four years old. You think I can pop out two kids in a year like some superwoman?”
Kerri was really pissed off.
But she knew if she didn’t clear things up, this drunk man would keep spouting nonsense.
Brayden paused for a moment, then suddenly laughed, “So you finally admit that Sprague is our son?”
Kerri was taken aback.
Still, she replied grumpily, “Brayden, I don’t have time to argue with you. Give me the boy, his family is still waiting in the hospital.”
Brayden sat back down on the couch, stretching comfortably, “Jared already took that boy to your hospital.”
Kerri was shocked, “Jared?”
Brayden casually replied, “He was here drinking too. Said he saw the kid in Manhattan, wanted to meet the parents, so he took the kid directly to your hospital. They should be on the way now.”
Fear gripped Kerri.
How could/such a coincidence happen?
Nocturné was now with Jared.
Did Jared suspect something and want to meet the parents?
Kerri was utterly confused.
Brayden grabbed Kerri’s arm and pulled her onto his lap.
Kerri lost her balance and landed on Brayden’s legs.
Brayden leaned in, his warm breath on her ear, “Can you stay tonight, wifey, I miss you…
The word “wifey” made Kerri freeze, but it also made her heart ache.
Brayden was really drunk.
His lips were already on her neck.
Kerri snapped back to reality.
She pushed Brayden away and stood up, “Brayden, take a good look, I’m not your wife Maisie. If you miss your wife, go home and hold her. I actually feel sorry for Maisie now. A man like you, cheating after marriage, whoever marries you is really unlucky.”
With that, Kerri ran out.
Brayden’s face had turned somber, his drunkenness subsiding.
After Kerri disappeared from the doorway, he picked up a bottle from the table and threw it at the door…
At the parking lot of Paradise Bar.
Agnes had come with Kerri.
But to avoid blowing her cover, Agnes didn’t go in with Kerri.
She sat in the car waiting.
Agnes kept an eye on the location displayed on her phone.
Surprisingly, just after Kerri went in.
Nocturne’s location kept moving.
Soon, the location appeared at the bar door.
Nocturne might have come out.
Agnes was about to get out of the car to check.
But she saw a tall figure and a little boy on his shoulder…
That little boy was Nocturne, and that figure…
